The Hong Kong Health & Social Care Foundation has officially launched its “Coffee Chat” series, designed to create a relaxed yet impactful platform for dialogue among policymakers, healthcare professionals, and industry leaders. The initiative aims to foster collaboration and inject fresh momentum into Hong Kong’s health care and social development.

The inaugural session featured Legislative Council Member Hon Edward Leung, who shared insights on primary healthcare, major disease management, and innovation in pharmaceuticals and medical devices, offering a behind-the-scenes look at policy implementation and future directions. Edward remarked: “Primary healthcare is the cornerstone of Hong Kong’s medical system. Effective policy implementation requires collective effort, and today’s discussion reflects the passion and creativity of the industry.”

The program included a Healthcare Policy Overview presented by Foundation Co-Founder Mr. Terry Lai, followed by Mr. Lai’s keynote session moderated by Co-Founder Mr. John Wong. Mr. Wong noted: “Hearing diverse perspectives in such an open setting is invaluable for shaping our future research priorities.” Mr. Lai added: “Through this platform, we aim to unite stakeholders and drive policy and innovation that truly benefit patients and society.”
The event attracted representatives from around ten international pharmaceutical companies and local healthcare organizations, generating valuable insights that will guide the Foundation’s 2026 research agenda. The Hong Kong Medical & Social Foundation will continue hosting the “Coffee Conversations” series to advance healthcare innovation and build a healthier future for the city.
